The Fraser Valley Conservancy offers specialized services that support our conservation ethic. Listed below are some of the services we currently offer.
Wildlife reports aim to identify sensitive wildlife and wildlife habitat issues related to private land development in the Abbotsford area. Wildlife reports encourage land use decisions that support the integrity of these species and/or habitats. These reports provide a standard map of known species and habitat information for a development property, but do not replace field surveys for species occurrences and habitat values.
Baseline mapping such as Sensitive Habitat Inventory and Mapping (SHIM), Sensitive Ecosystems Inventories (SEI), and Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) provide critical information regarding the health of habitats in investigated landscapes. This information identifies sensitive areas, areas of conservation concern, clarify ecosystem classification, and identify areas where rare species occur; in addition gathered information may provide more accurate and precise locations of streams and water bodies.
Conservation Property Management
Properties that are managed for their conservation values often require a non-traditional landscaping approach. Services such as effective control of invasive species, comprehensive baseline and species surveys as well as site-specific management plans are key tools to protect valuable habitat.
