SUMMARY:Amphibian Fencing Installation
DESCRIPTION:Outdoor – Carry\, Walk\, Hammer\, Staple \nIn late February/early March the amphibians are traveling back to their important breeding wetland in Ryder Lake. There is a crossing structure called the “Toad Tunnel”\, that runs under Elk View Road. The fencing you will install helps guide these amphibians to the crossing structure so they can safely pass under the road. \nWe’re looking for energetic volunteers to help us install 75m – 250m of silt fencing to direct toads making their annual mass migration.\nThis will involve installing fencing along Elk View Rd. by hammering wooden and metal stakes into the ground and using a staple gun to secure the fence. \n\nVolunteer requirements: \n\n• Capable of lifting up to 15 lbs \n• Comfortable using a shovel\, hammer and staple gun \n• Able to stand and walk on uneven ground/in a ditch along a road \n• Works well in a team and follows instructions \n• Over 16 years of age \nClick here to read the full volunteer job description. \n  \nWe need everyone to register so we can update you if there is a change in plans. **Date and time subject to weather and amphibian activity.**

DESCRIPTION:Outdoor – Cut\, Pull\, Dig\, Learn \n Are you interested in helping nature and wildlife on naturally forested land? We have opportunities to do just that coming throughout the spring and summer. We will need volunteers on an ongoing basis to help us enhance forests on our conservation properties. \nThese invasive control events will happen during the week throughout the spring\, summer and fall. We are collecting names for people who are interested and will reach out to you the week before the event to see if you are available. \n\nVolunteer requirements: \n\nBe comfortable working in a forest without trails \nBe able to crawl over logs\, duck through bushes\, kneel and pull \nCapable of working on uneven and sloped terrain \nComfortable using gardening tools such as shovels\, pickaxes\, trowels\, and hand pruners \nBe able to differentiate between invasive plant species and native plant species (training will be provided) \nSpecies being removed are Himalayan blackberry\, Yellow Archangel\, English Ivy and others \nClick here to read the full volunteer job description. \n  \nInterested?
