SUMMARY:Amphibian Fencing Installation
DESCRIPTION:Outdoor – Carry\, Walk\, Hammer\, Staple \nIn late February/early March the amphibians are traveling back to their important breeding wetland in Ryder Lake. There is a crossing structure called the “Toad Tunnel”\, that runs under Elk View Road. The fencing you will install helps guide these amphibians to the crossing structure so they can safely pass under the road. \nWe’re looking for energetic volunteers to help us install 75m – 250m of silt fencing to direct toads making their annual mass migration.\nThis will involve installing fencing along Elk View Rd. by hammering wooden and metal stakes into the ground and using a staple gun to secure the fence. \n\nVolunteer requirements: \n\n• Capable of lifting up to 15 lbs \n• Comfortable using a shovel\, hammer and staple gun \n• Able to stand and walk on uneven ground/in a ditch along a road \n• Works well in a team and follows instructions \n• Over 16 years of age \nClick here to read the full volunteer job description. \n  \nWe need everyone to register so we can update you if there is a change in plans. **Date and time subject to weather and amphibian activity.**

DESCRIPTION:Indoor – Watch\, Check\, Count\, Record \n\nThe Fraser Valley Conservancy owns properties that are important wildlife corridors. We have set up cameras that automatically record photos along game trails on these properties. We are seeking a dedicated volunteer to review the photos and videos regularly\, and to identify and count the species captured. This will help us understand the type and behaviour of the wildlife that benefit from our properties. \nTime commitment: \n\n\nreview existing data – up to 4-6 hours of work\nseasonally – 3-4 hours of work every month\n\n\nThis is an at-home volunteer role. \nYou must have access to a computer/laptop and a stable internet connection. \n\nClick here to read the full volunteer job description.
