
Outdoor – Cut, Pull, Dig, Learn
Are you interested in helping nature and wildlife on our forested properties? We have opportunities to do just that coming throughout the summer and fall. We will need volunteers on an ongoing basis to help us enhance habitat on our conservation properties in Abbotsford and Chilliwack.
These invasive control events will happen during the week throughout September and October. We are collecting names for people who are interested and will reach out to you the week before the event to see if you are available.
Volunteer requirements:
Be comfortable working in a forest without trails
Be able to crawl over logs, duck through bushes, kneel and pull
Capable of working on uneven and sloped terrain
Comfortable using gardening tools such as shovels, pickaxes, trowels, and hand pruners
Be able to differentiate between invasive plant species and native plant species (training will be provided)
Species being removed are Himalayan blackberry, Yellow Archangel, English Ivy and others
