Go Green! Contest Terms and Conditions Version 1.0. February 6, 2025.

Introduction

Welcome to the Fraser Valley Conservancy’s 2025 series of contests hosted under the Step to It program! These contests aim to inspire Fraser Valley residents to take practical actions at home to support nature through composting, saving water, and saving electricity. Participants can enjoy educational workshops, engage in weekly challenges, and win exciting prizes.

1. Eligibility

1.1. The contests are open to residents of the Fraser Valley Regional District.

1.2. Participants must be 19 years or older at the time of entry.

1.3. Employees, contractors, board members, and immediate family members of the FVC are not eligible to participate.

2. How to Enter

2.1. Participants must complete the contest entry form for each contest as it opens.

2.2. Completing all weekly challenges through the Zelos app qualifies participants for the grand prize draw.

2.3. Each completed weekly challenge earns an entry for a smaller prize; not all weeks have to be completed to be eligible for a smaller prize.

2.4. Bonus entry opportunities for smaller prizes may be announced through the Zelos app or social media. Participants are encouraged to enable push notifications to stay informed.

2.5. Participants can join a contest at any time during its duration. However, challenges from prior weeks cannot be retroactively completed.

3. Contest Periods

3.1. Each contest will run for approximately eight weeks:

  • Composting Contest: Spring 2025
  • Saving Water Contest: Summer 2025
  • Saving Electricity Contest: Fall 2025

3.2. Specific start and end dates for each contest will be announced closer to their launch.

4. Verification and Participation

4.1. Participants will log their completed challenges using the Zelos app.

4.2. FVC reserves the right to verify entries and disqualify any participant whose tasks are incomplete or improperly completed.

4.3. Dishonest behaviour, such as creating multiple profiles or falsifying task completion, will result in immediate disqualification.

5. Prizes and Winner Selection

5.1. Each contest will feature one grand prize and at least two smaller prizes. Prize details will be announced at the start of each contest.

5.2. Prizes may include physical products or experiences such as gift packages, eco-friendly products, or local getaways.

5.3. Winners for both the grand prize and smaller prizes will be chosen through a random draw conducted by FVC staff.

5.4. The winner of the grand prize will be ineligible for the small prize draw.

5.5. Winners will be notified by email and publicly announced on FVC’s social media channels.

5.6. Winners must claim their prizes by the stated deadline or forfeit their winnings.

5.7. Participants are responsible for picking up prizes or covering shipping costs, if applicable.

6. Terms and Conditions

6.1. Privacy:

  • Participants’ personal information (e.g., name, location, email, age) will be collected solely for contest administration purposes and not shared outside of the Fraser Valley Conservancy.
  • All prize winners agree to allow their photo to be shared via FVC and Step to It social media and newsletters.

6.2. Disqualification:

  • Participants under 19, non-residents of the Fraser Valley Regional District, or those engaging in inappropriate conduct (e.g., slandering the FVC or other participants) may be disqualified.

6.3. Sponsor Involvement:

  • Sponsors may impose conditions, such as expiry dates, on vouchers or other prize contributions.

6.4 Sponsors will be acknowledged on FVC’s website, promotional materials, contest landing pages, and social media channels.

7. Changes or Cancellations

7.1. FVC reserves the right to modify contest rules or cancel the contests if necessary.

7.2. Any changes will be communicated to participants via the Zelos app.

8. Liabilities and Disclaimers

8.1. FVC is not responsible for technical difficulties, defects in prizes, or participants’ inability to use a prize.

8.2. By entering, participants agree to release FVC from any liability associated with the contests or prizes.

9. Disputes

9.1. Disputes or complaints must be submitted via email to steptoit@fraservalleyconservancy.ca.

9.2. FVC will review complaints and respond as necessary. The decision of FVC is final.

10. Fraud Prevention

10.1 Fraud includes falsifying hours/activities or creating multiple identities to accumulate points. Participants engaging in fraudulent activities will be immediately removed from the program.

11. Personal Data Collection

11.1 By participating in the Community Sustainability Contest, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data in accordance with the Fraser Valley Conservancy’s Privacy Statement.

12. Amendment of Terms and Conditions

12.1 The Fraser Valley Conservancy reserves the right to amend, modify, or update the terms and conditions of the Community Sustainability Contest as deemed necessary.

12.2 Participants will be notified of changes via email, the website, or other appropriate channels. Continued participation in the program implies acceptance of revised terms.
